The First-Year Experience program offers undergraduates many ways become familiar with the College of Biological Sciences community during their first year on campus. Through field trips, student-faculty lunches and other events, we provide a foundation for success.
- The Freshman Fall Welcome brunch introduces all FYE freshmen to their cohort groups. Share a meal with fellow students and listen to guest speakers.
- The Transfer Fall Welcome and Research Lab Fair provides a similar community-building opportunity for transfer students and features guest researchers from labs across campus.
- Weekly student-faculty lunches provide opportunities to meet with CBS faculty in small groups. Use the time to ask questions about life as a scientist, discover research opportunities on campus and learn how a biological sciences degree can impact your career.
- The Bodega Marine Lab field trip gives students a chance to tour the research station at Bodega Bay and get a first-hand perspective from facility scientists. You can also participate in the Lake Tahoe Snapshot Day, an event in mid-May where students help conduct water quality sampling and habitat assessments.
