National Academy of Sciences President Marcia McNutt will visit campus for a presentation on “The Climate for Women in STEM: Past, Present, and Future.” The free event will be held on Friday, Jan. 18 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the UC Davis Mondavi Center.
Jodi Nunnari has been elected as a member of the National Academy of Sciences. She studies mitochondria, tiny structures that provide energy to living cells and which are implicated in a wide range of diseases, including heart disease, stroke and inherited conditions.
Three UC Davis ecologists are being recognized nationwide: Alan Hastings, newly elected to the National Academy of Sciences; and Sharon Strauss and Peter Wainwright, newly elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
The National Academy of Sciences announced its new class today (April 28). Election to the academy is one of the highest science honors in the United States — and UC Davis now counts 27 members.
