Sam Arcement was born and raised in a small town outside of New Orleans, Louisiana. Sam, a first generation student, earned her bachelor's degree from Louisiana State University with a double major in history and religious studies. She spent the pandemic earning her Master’s degree in higher education administration. Her capstone project was titled “The Soft Side of STEM: Building Successful Doctoral Student-Faculty Advising Relationships,” and her practicum project focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts in graduate education. Sam has held a variety of advising roles since joining UC Davis in 2016. Prior to joining the College of Biological Sciences in 2022, she served as the Graduate Program Coordinator and Advising Supervisor for the Departments of Biological and Agricultural Engineering, Food Science and Technology, and Viticulture and Enology. Outside of work, Sam enjoys learning new recipes and spending time with her cats Miso and Momo.
