This in-person event is sponsored by Meta and hosted by the AI Institute for Next Generation Food Systems (AIFS) on the UC Davis campus from May 15-17, 2026.
KICKOFF PANEL DISCUSSION
- Hear from growers, industry leaders, startup founders, and the Meta team.
- Explore how wearable AI could solve challenges across food and agriculture.
- Discover opportunities and limitations teams should consider as they build.
Following the kickoff, we’ll build the teams, you’ll discuss ideas, then it’s a focused build sprint. Pitch your project to a panel of judges on Sunday.

WHO SHOULD APPLY
Open to undergraduate and graduate students from any major who can participate in person at UC Davis.
The challenge is led by Ilias Tagkopoulos, Steve Brown, and Samir Townsley with support from the Meta Wearables team.
Food and workspace will be provided throughout the weekend.
