Speaker Bio: Becca Young is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Integrative Biology at UT Austin. She earned her PhD in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at the University of Arizona and completed postdoctoral research at Yale University's Systems Biology Institute. Becca's research asks how the diversity of forms, functions, and behaviors develops and evolves. Her lab combines embryology, development, and comparative 'omics approaches to uncover the causes of phenotypic variation and to understand how this variation drives functional and ecological diversity across a variety of systems including amphibians, reptiles (avian and non-avian), fishes, mammals, and—on occasion—spiders and insects.
