Dr. Hasan Khatib, The University of Wisconsin-Madison, presents "Inheritance Beyond DNA: Exploring the Impact of Environment on Epigenetic Modifications".

Hasan Khatib holds the position of professor and vice-chair in the Department of Animal and Dairy Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He earned his Bachelor of Science, Master of Science, and Ph.D. from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Presently, his research focuses on exploring the role of epigenetics in various production, reproduction, and health traits in livestock. Of particular interest are the transgenerational impacts of paternal and maternal nutrition on the phenotypes of subsequent generations. Notably, his team recently demonstrated that sperm DNA methylation patterns can be altered by a paternal diet and inherited transgenerationally in sheep. Dr. Khatib is also engaged in identifying epigenetic markers that can predict embryo development and fertility using non-invasive methods. Dr. Khatib has also served as the editor of the books: “Livestock Epigenetics” and “Molecular and Quantitative Animal Genetics”.
