About the speaker: Suyakarn "Sonia" Archasappawat is a PhD candidate in Integrative Pathobiology. In the lab of Dr. Chang-il Hwang, she studies how genetic and epigenetic programs shape treatment response in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC), one of the deadliest cancers with limited durable treatment options.
About the seminar: In this seminar, she will discuss recent work on bromodomain and extra-terminal domain (BET) protein inhibitors in PDAC, focusing on two key questions: why BRCA2-deficient pancreatic cancer is particularly sensitive to BET inhibition, and how adaptive resistance mechanisms may emerge and be overcome to improve long-term response.
