Beginning April 24, 2026, the U.S. Department of Justice will require all public universities to ensure their digital content—including websites, course materials, PDFs, and mobile apps—meets WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards.

The stakes are high. These federal requirements carry significant legal, financial, and reputational consequences for institutions that fail to comply. Just as importantly, they reaffirm our commitment to the UC Davis Principles of Community by ensuring all members of our community can fully access the university’s digital environment.

To help our college prepare, we will hold a CBS Accessibility Town Hall on Friday, November 14 at 1:00 p.m. presented by Brad Starkey-Owens, Digital Accessibility Program Manager, Compliance and Policy at UC Davis.

This webinar will:
· Explain what the new mandates require and how they affect our college.
· Share the campuswide plan to support transitions to compliant tools and resources.
· Offer a chance to ask questions and identify what will need to change in our own units.

You are invited to submit your questions in advance via this form https://ucdavis.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_6EEPwRfstudkqLs, and we will do our best to address during the event.
