Speaker Bio: Jesse R. Dixon is an Associate Professor at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies in La Jolla, CA. His work focuses on how our genomes are organized in 3D space, and how alterations to 3D genome folding contribute to human disease. He graduated from Princeton University with a degree in Molecular Biology in 2006 and completed his M.D./Ph.D. at the University of California, San Diego in 2015, where his Ph.D. work was in the lab of Dr. Bing Ren. Dr. Dixon then was appointed as a “Faculty Fellow” at the Salk Institute where he began his independent research group. He was promoted to Assistant Professor in 2020 and Associate Professor in 2025. He has been the recipient of the NIH Early Independence Award (2016), the Rita Allen Foundation Scholar Award (2023), and the Pew Biomedical Scholars Award (2024).
