Research Interests
As an anatomist and educator, I organize, coordinate, and teach courses in the anatomical sciences, including gross anatomy, prosection-based anatomy lab, human donor dissection, and neuroanatomy. My research interests include identifying and understanding psychosocial factors underlying student success in human gross anatomy, trauma-informed anatomy education, and identification, description, and characterization of human anatomical variations (e.g., muscle variations, including supernumerary muscles in the upper limb, lower limb, and neck, and variations in upper limb arterial branching patterns). My dissertation research is focused on characterizing the relationships among professional identity, frustration intolerance, and academic performance in human gross anatomy lecture and lab, as these are understudied constructs that may contribute to academic success and risk of remediation in anatomy education.
