Christina L. Jackson is a professional educator and student advocate from the Midwest. Christina earned a Bachelor of Science in Sociology and Master of Education in Higher Education from Grand Valley State University (GVSU) which is about two hours west of her hometown in Detroit, Michigan. Christina is a first-generation college graduate; her personal experiences as a student sparked her interest in College Student Affairs. She began her professional career as an Academic Adviser in the Center for Multicultural Academic Excellence (CMAE) at the University of Oregon. Christina joined the UC Davis community as Retention Specialist for the Center for the Educational Opportunity Program where she served for more than 5 years. As it relates to student affairs, Christina is most passionate about student engagement and success with a special interest in strategies that promote academic excellence and student retention. When Christina is not working, she enjoys listening to audio books, writing poetry, and making new recipes with friends.
