Jazmin holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in educational leadership and policy studies with a concentration in higher education leadership from Sacramento State. She graduated in 2022 with an educational doctorate in educational leadership at Sacramento State. Her dissertation examined the relationship between chronic stress, mental health, and academic achievement in underserved student populations. The program faculty selected her dissertation as the awarded outstanding dissertation in higher education.
Before she joined the BASC team, Jazmin worked at Sacramento State University for ten years, five of which were supporting the First Year Experience Program. She also held various roles across campus as an Academic Advisor, serving student-athletes, transfers, first-year students, and students on academic probation. As a first-generation college student herself, Jazmin centers advocacy, equity, and student development theory in her advising practice.
