Placement examinations are required for many courses that CBS students take. The entry level writing requirement must be met by all UC Davis students regardless of major. 

• Mathematics Placement Exam
  The Mathematics Course Placement determines your level of preparation for college-level math courses offered at UC Davis.
• Chemistry Placement Exam
  To assure enrollment in general chemistry, all students must earn a qualifying score from the Chemistry Placement Exam.
• Entry Level Writing Requirement 
  Every first-year student in the UC system must demonstrate their college-level proficiency in writing by fulfilling the ELWR.
