Jennifer Fletcher, Principal Investigator, USDA-ARS Plant Gene Expression Center, Adjunct Professor, UC Berkeley, presents "Regulation of Stem Cell Fate During Plant Development".
Jennifer Fletcher is a Principal Investigator at the USDA-ARS Plant Gene Expression Center and Adjunct Professor at UC Berkeley. She obtained her PhD at the University of Utah working with Carl Thummel and did her postdoc in Elliot Meyerowitz’ group at Caltech. Her group studies the molecular mechanisms that regulate plant stem cell activity, including intercellular signaling pathways, small RNAs and epigenetic regulators. The lab utilizes genetic, molecular, genomic and biochemical approaches to understand how stem cell signaling networks control the development of above-ground plant architecture. Their goal is to generate and apply knowledge of plant stem cell maintenance to enhance global agricultural productivity by optimizing the yield of domesticated and neo-domesticated crop plants.
