Once you're a CBS student...
You'll chart your own unique path
Are you drawn to molecules, cells, organisms, or ecosystems? Prefer asking “how” or “why”? Every CBS major offers the flexibility to explore diverse topics and discover your passion!
You'll join a community of peers
All CBS majors have the same preparatory coursework for the first two years at UC Davis, so no matter what you choose to study, you’ll be with other CBS students!
You'll earn a dynamic degree
Many of our majors can be a B.A. or B.S., offering flexibility to explore non-STEM topics. They also provide a solid foundation for graduate study or careers in education or biotechnology.
Thinking about a health profession?
You don’t need a “pre-health” major to pursue a health profession. Many programs value diverse academic backgrounds, so choose a major you’re passionate about!
You'll conduct research in...
Wet Labs
Work with organisms, chemicals, and biological samples.
Dry Labs
Analyze data, model systems, and simulate experiments.
The Field
Observe ecosystems, collect samples, and study wildlife.
Clinical Settings
Interact with patients, collect data, and evaluate treatments.
One-Stop Advising
The Biology Academic Success Center (BASC) is your one-stop-shop for all advising needs during your time as a CBS student. BASC advisors will help you plan your courses, stay on track, and succeed!
Experiential Learning
From reaching out to a faculty member whose research interests you, to interning in a research facility or even studying abroad, experiential learning sets a CBS education apart.
