Dr. Bragg presents: "New Kids on Campus - First-Year Students Facing Challenges and Opportunities"

About the seminar: Students enrolling in college can expect to deal with a great many changes as they transition into campus life and college-level learning. I investigate the current trends in College of Biological Sciences first-year student profiles, including their pre-college preparation, attitudes about college life and work, and the development of key skills for college success as reflected in student work for the first-year experience seminar course BIS005 offered to all CBS first-year students. I also evaluate the effectiveness of the BIS005 course in connecting students to resources and opportunities on campus, improving performance through lessons on time management and self regulation in learning, and other key contributors to creating a positive first year experience at UC Davis for our students.
