Memorial Fund Established to Honor Distinguished Professor Emeritus Roy H. Doi

Roy H. Doi, distinguished professor emeritus of molecular and cellular biology, was a leader in advancing understanding of the mechanisms that control bacterial gene expression. Elected as a member of the National Academy of Sciences in 2006, Doi was recognized for his career contributions in molecular biology and biotechnology. On Oct. 9, 2017, Doi passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, at the age of 84.

Remembering Eric Conn, a Founding Father of Biochemistry and Biophysics at UC Davis

Eric Conn, professor emeritus of molecular and cellular biology, was a plant biochemist and member of the National Academy of Sciences. Conn is world-renowned in his field for his contributions to the understanding of plant metabolism, and he held tenure for 43 years with the University of California. He passed away on Saturday, Sept. 2, 2017.

Improving plant health through biology

Maud Hinchee received her B.S. in Botany in 1975 and then returned to UC Davis and completed a Ph.D. in Botany in 1981. Hinchee possesses decades of experience in the fields of botany and plant biotechnology.
