Center for Neuroscience - DEI Programs
The center partners with leaders, faculty, staff and students to address implicit and explicit bias, racism and structural inequalities within the neuroscience community, and invests in strategic efforts to DEI in the neurosciences.
Diversity in STEM Coalition (DISC) This coalition was established by students to support the retention and success of marginalized students in STEM at UC Davis and foster community between diversity-focused organizations in STEM by collaboratively hosting professional development events.
Seminar Outreach for Minority Advocacy (SOMA) A team of neuroscience graduate students at UC Davis with the aim of creating a platform for neuroscience scholars from historically underrepresented and excluded backgrounds. SOMA has adopted a format which includes a seminar series, and an annual SOMA Summit.
Sustainable Oceans Scholars Program This program trains the next generation of marine scientists to generate use-inspired research questions about ocean, coastal and ecosystem-based management. Students from traditionally underrepresented groups in marine and coastal sciences are encouraged to apply.
